Eugene Issues New Rates

The city will move to a new rate structure for solid waste hauling, effective Dec. 1, 2007.
The City of Eugene's rate increase will vary between 4.38% and 4.46%, depending on the level of service. The last change in rates was more than four years ago for residential customers and six years ago for commercial customers.
During that time, the costs of petroleum and steel products used by Sanipac, as well as health insurance premiums for employees, have risen. Sanipac's commingle recycling program cut down on staffing and other costs, which helped delay the rate increase.
The city's website has complete information so you can calculate your new bill based on the size of container and frequency of pick up. You may also call the city at 682-6830. Businesses may contact Sanipac's recycling coordinator at 736-3617 to look for ways to increase the amount of recyclables and decrease the size of their garbage containers.
