Recycling Matters, Flatten All Cardboard, Lane County Recycles 53%, Building a Mountain

Recycling Matters

Proper recycling is the difference between what goes in the landfi ll and what will be reused or remanufactured into a new product. If trash or dirty recyclables are mixed with clean recycling, then all may be lost. Be sure to follow the rules of recycling:
1. All recycling must be clean
2. Only include acceptable items

Sanipac thanks you for cooperating with us in making this another successful year for recycling! Recently, both the Eugene City Manager, Jon Ruiz and the Springfield City Manager, Gino Grimaldi were congratulated by the State of Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for meeting their “Opportunity to Recycle” requirements for their respective cities.

Building a Mountain

When you put out your trash, do you ever think about where it goes? Here in Lane County, most of our municipal trash is transported to the
Short Mountain Landfi ll, located 8 miles south of Eugene along I-5. Our local “mountain” of trash is currently 160 feet tall and spans over 90 acres.
