DEQ reports that Lane County recycles 53% of waste in 2007--above the Oregon state average and well above the national average.
Sanipac wants to thank you for cooperating with us in making this another successful year for recycling! Recently City Manager Jon Ruiz was congratulated by the State of Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for meeting their “Opportunity to Recycle” requirements for the City of Eugene. Furthermore, during the year of 2007 you helped to recycle an amazing 53% of waste generated per capita in Lane County. All told, this accounted for over 243,800 tons of material recovered in the area that would have otherwise been disposed of as waste. With your continued help we are striving forward in meeting the DEQ’s goal of a 54% total recycled materials rate for Lane County in 2009.publications
Lane County also continued to be above the state average as a whole of 46.7% of waste per capita recovered in 2007. Nationwide, Oregon remains a leader in recycling, well exceeding the national average of 32.5% of waste materials recycled per capita (as last reported for 2006 on the National EPA website).
Sanipac is proud to partner with you in making the community we all share a clean and environmentally friendly place to live. We offer a variety of recycling opportunities along with an experienced staff which is available to answer any questions in assisting with your needs.
Thanks again for helping to make Lane County a place that’s “carried away” with recycling!
